FROM MS. STOGNER’S DESK
Welcome back to all of our returning parents and students. We would also like to welcome our new parents and students to ASE. Please come by to introduce yourself and volunteer when you can. It is important to our “family” that each of you know you are welcome to visit and enjoy our wonderful school.
A special welcome to our new staff members: 1)Sara Archer (PEI),
2) Ashleigh Dietrich (Kindergarten), 3)Ray Bott (Special Education),
4) Alison Condon (Gifted), 5) Patty Carbajal (Speech), 6) Julie Dupuy (Taking Mrs. Harrell’s position while out with baby girl Madeline), 7) Doug Saylor, (Taking Aimee Gold’s position while out on leave), 8) Elizabeth Caruso (returning this year as our new TRT, which was formerly known as a RHT).
With the deepest respect and admiration, we are saddened by the loss of our loved one, Betty Alexander (our former RHT). We have placed an “Angel”(her favorite collector item) on our front lawn in her memory. We will miss her so!
We have added an additional bus in order to ease the overcrowding of our current loads. Please try to have your child ride a bus if at all possible. Our car line is once again very large and the safest route possible is to use our bus service. If you must use the car line route, please be patient, considerate, and observe our car line rules. 1) Please do not walk children to cars. 2) Please stay in car line once your child is loaded. (Do not go around any cars on the left. 3) Please have your child on the right side of the car and wait until you move out of car line to stop and buckle them in. 4) Please do not talk to staff in car line so they may watch the children carefully. 5) Please have a car line sign made to hold out the driver’s window with your child’s name on it so that we may have them ready. (If you do not have a sign, please see us and we will make you one. It must be in big bold letters.) Please also be aware that we must leave room for busses to turn into the back street to get onto our campus. The guard will have orange cones that will notify you of the area that you will need to leave open in order that busses may enter safely.
Due to the enormous amount of check outs and the new laws of child attendance in school, we must limit check outs for the afternoon. We will ask you not to check your child out early unless it is an important appointment or it is an emergency. We will not allow checkouts after 2:30 unless it is an emergency. Please bring a doctor’s note when you return for that specific appointment so that we may excuse your child for checking out early. New laws mandate that student attendance should be 167 days, with no more than 13 absences. This does not allow for many days children may be out of school.
We must ask you to put all changes in transportation in writing. We cannot accept phone calls due to the “safety” of all children. Please try to keep your child’s transportation consistent so they are not confused of how they will go home. Remember we have 780 students to dismiss each afternoon and it is very difficult to make changes and ensure safety of “all” students.
Thank you for your support this year and we have a wonderful year prepared for your children.
